I use paper to reassemble pre-existing images as a form of illustration. I started collaging photos from my phone of shadows in my bedroom and details from the street. Now I like making images that have a suggested eroticism. It’s explicit but also a little subtle and shy. I use paper in soft and muted colours because I feel like it juxtaposes the sounds and feelings of the kind of sex i’m portraying. It’s funny my references are often from porn but on paper they become kind of soft and sweet. I’m interested in exploring queer sexual identity through contemporary semiotics. I’ve been working on a series called Tighty Whitey which is about the eroticism attached to white underwear. I think everyone looks sexy in them. I feel sexy if I’m wearing white underwear and its interesting to think about why that is.
